Billionaire Mike Novogratz believes Ethereum will outperform Bitcoin due to ETF momentum and corporate reserve purchases, while maintaining his forecast of BTC reaching $150,000.
Billionaire Mike Novogratz, CEO of digital asset infrastructure company Galaxy, expressed an optimistic view on Ethereum's prospects in an interview with CNBC. He believes the second-largest cryptocurrency has the opportunity to outperform Bitcoin in the next 3-6 months due to increasing interest from financial institutions and the trend of companies buying ETH as a reserve asset.
Ethereum is currently trading around $3,730, after reaching a 2025 peak of $3,848 earlier this week. Although still 24% below its all-time high of $4,878 in 2021, ETH has shown an impressive recovery, and Novogratz predicts the price could soon touch $4,000.
"The growth story of ETH is currently very compelling," Novogratz noted. "ETH has made significant progress recently, and I believe Ethereum has many opportunities to outperform Bitcoin in the next 3 to 6 months."
Enterprises Adopting Ethereum Treasury Strategy
An important factor driving Ethereum is the trend of listed companies beginning to buy ETH as a reserve asset, similar to the model MicroStrategy successfully applied with Bitcoin. BitMine Immersion, a Nasdaq-listed cryptocurrency mining company, has actively purchased ETH and currently holds assets worth $2 billion, becoming a leading enterprise in the "Ethereum Treasury" strategy.
SharpLink Gaming has also joined this trend by purchasing over $1.3 billion in ETH since May when adopting the Ethereum treasury strategy. This move reflects growing corporate confidence in Ethereum's long-term potential.
Ethereum ETFs are also recording record capital inflows from US investors. In just one trading day last week, ETH ETFs attracted $726 million in net cash flow, marking the highest level in trading history. In total, these funds have attracted over $2.1 billion in the past week.
According to the Myriad prediction platform, 55% of users believe ETH will set a new all-time high before the end of 2025, indicating widespread optimism in the crypto community.
While focusing on Ethereum's potential, Novogratz maintains a positive forecast for Bitcoin with the possibility of reaching $150,000 this year. Bitcoin is currently trading around $118,628, slightly down this week but still up nearly 12% in the past 30 days after setting a new all-time high of $122,838.
