Amid a sideways movement of major cryptocurrencies, an optimistic forecast suggests that Bitcoin (BTC) could surge to $250,000 this year. Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, predicted that the U.S. government's fiscal stimulus shift and capital control intensification could drive Bitcoin's price to $250,000 this year.
According to CoinMarketCap, a global cryptocurrency market tracking site, at 8:00 AM, BTC recorded a 0.88% increase to $105,548.35. Ethereum (ETH) rose 0.23% to $2,537.23, XRP dropped 0.26% to $2.174, and Solana (SOL) increased 0.22% to $157.32.

According to Decrypt, Hayes stated at the 'Bitcoin2025' event in Las Vegas that the Trump administration endured three months of tariff-related pain but needs to change policy direction before the midterm elections. He anticipated the full-scale implementation of fiscal stimulus to benefit voters, adding that the Federal Reserve would print more money.
He also mentioned the possibility of the U.S. government shifting to taxing foreign capital instead of tariffs. He argued that foreign governments' U.S. bonds, stocks, and real estate could be taxed, potentially driving countries to focus on BTC and gold.
Hayes previously forecast BTC would reach $150,000 earlier this month but has now raised his target to $250,000. He also stated that BTC could reach $1 million by 2028.
Billionaire investor Tim Draper similarly pointed to the Trump administration's regulatory relaxation as a factor for BTC's rise. He analyzed that the upward trend would continue as companies adopt BTC as a reserve asset.
