President Donald Trump held a special dinner for cryptocurrency investors, but it was met with harsh criticism of the food and service.
The event, held on May 23rd, invited 220 individuals who largely held Trump's meme cryptocurrency 'Trump Coin ($TRUMP)' to the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia. The dress code was 'black tie' requiring tuxedos and dresses, but the attendees' response was cold.
Nicholas Pinto, who holds $360,000 worth of Trump Coin, told Wired that it was "the worst food at Trump's golf course" and that "there was no proper food except buttered bread". He reported leaving the event midway after barely eating.
Another investor texted a CNBC reporter during the event saying "Spirit Airlines in-flight meals are better", and one coin holder described the main fish dish as "like a Costco frozen food". He added that "even Holiday Inn serves better food".
Meanwhile, the menu appeared promising. According to CNN, salad was followed by steak or fish, with chocolate lava cake for dessert. However, contrary to the visual presentation, the actual reviews were below expectations.
President Trump stayed at the venue for only 23 minutes and left immediately without any greeting or conversation. As a result, some attendees expressed that they were "significantly disappointed as coin investors".
According to the British Telegraph, the average Trump Coin holdings of attendees were estimated at approximately $1.78 million. Thus, cryptocurrency investors who invested substantial amounts ended up leaving disappointed.
