Metaplanet began implementing its Bitcoin accumulation strategy in April 2024 and has continuously increased its holdings through multiple periodic purchases. Before the most recent purchase, the company had previously announced additional Bitcoin purchases in May and June 2024. Buying an additional 1.111 BTC marks the next digital asset increase in the company's long-term Bitcoin investment strategy.
Metaplanet is one of the first companies in Japan to pursue a large-scale digital asset holding policy, specifically Bitcoin. The company also regularly discloses information about its BTC purchases and updates its asset holdings to ensure transparency with shareholders and investors. The total value of 8.888 BTC currently owned by Metaplanet is determined based on the Medium Bitcoin price at the time of announcement, with a conversion value of nearly 934 million USD.
