Three South Korean Presidential Candidates Announce Promise to Launch Bitcoin Spot ETF

With one month left before the South Korean presidential election, three candidates have all expressed support for Bitcoin (BTC) spot ETF and institutional investment.

Ju Ki-young, CEO of Cryptoquant, posted on his X account photos of Lee Jae-myung from the Democratic Party, Kim Moon-soo from the People Power Party, and Lee Jun-seok from the Reform Party, explaining that they all proposed legalizing BTC spot ETF and creating a safe investment environment.

According to political circles on the 6th, Lee Jae-myung and Kim Moon-soo simultaneously announced their campaign promises to allow BTC spot ETF.

Lee Jae-myung posted on his Facebook that he would "help youth build assets" and "introduce spot crypto ETF and establish an integrated monitoring system". He also mentioned he would "encourage reducing cryptocurrency trading fees".

Kim Moon-soo presented the 'Middle-Class Asset Multiplication Project' as his fifth major campaign promise, mentioning BTC spot ETF introduction.

Lee Jun-seok appeared on a YouTube channel last month, stating that Bitcoin should be reserved as a national strategic asset, but not with too high a proportion, and should be held in the form of ETFs.

Currently, South Korea maintains a conservative stance on cryptocurrency ETFs. In January this year, the Financial Services Commission emphasized in a press briefing that establishing various regulations is a priority before allowing cryptocurrency ETFs, pointing to investor protection and the current easy cryptocurrency trading system.
