Upgrading IOTA Rebased Primary Network
On May 5, 2025, the IOTA Rebased Primary Network was officially launched, replacing the old Stardust. The upgrade process was carried out through the "Genesis Ceremony" by the IOTA Foundation and 12 initial validators, such as DLT Green, P2P, and Luganodes. The steps included shutting down the old network, creating a ledger snapshot, verifying data, creating and signing the genesis block, and launching the new network.
IOTA cryptocurrency users do not need to worry about asset transfer, but they should prepare their private keys, Mnemonics, or Firefly/Bloom Stronghold backups to access the new wallet. Ledger hardware wallets also need to update to the new IOTA Ledger application version compatible with the new network.
During this period, exchanges will temporarily suspend IOTA deposits and withdrawals but will soon resume operations. IOTA's Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) is expected to continue operating 4 to 8 hours after the Primary Network launch.
