Binance Founder CZ Charges 125 USD in BNB as Message Fee on ReachMe
"I will adjust the price to maintain an optimal level of about 10 messages per day," CZ stated, having previously raised fees due to being bombarded with messages.
Binance Founder and Former CEO CZ (Zhao Changpeng) launched a new feature called "Pay to Reach", allowing users to send private messages by paying a fee and guaranteeing a reply.
CZ first proposed this measure in a post on Binance Square earlier this month to address the large volume of messages he receives daily. He stated that theoretically, this feature would help optimize communication and reduce spam.
The "Pay to Reach" system was launched early this morning, enabling users to send messages directly to CZ and other key opinion leaders (KOLs) through the ReachMe.io platform.
The service requires no registration and uses Binance's BNB token as the transaction currency.
Initially, CZ set the message price at 0.04 BNB, then raised it to 0.1 BNB, and later adjusted it to 0.2 BNB due to receiving numerous irrelevant or low-quality messages.
"The initial price left me bombarded with spam," CZ stated in an announcement tweet. "Please do not waste your money this way."
He added: "I will adjust the price to maintain an optimal level of about 10 messages per day."
Users who pay the fee can receive a reply from CZ within five days. If CZ does not reply, users will receive a 50% refund.
The feature has attracted nearly 70 key opinion leaders (KOLs) who set their own message prices, ranging from 0.01 to 0.2 BNB.
As the KOL network continues to expand, the "Pay to Reach" model may be further validated, providing a new monetization avenue for digital interactions.
Additionally, CZ promised that all BNB received through this feature will be donated to charity. In his initial Binance Square post, CZ explained the motivation behind the "Pay to Reach" concept, stating that the idea originated from optimizing reach rates, not time management.
He mentioned that social media platforms like LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter) also offer similar features, but due to low entry barriers, they are plagued by spam.
However, this message fee model has sparked discussions about accessibility, as users unable to pay may be excluded from the opportunity to communicate with prominent figures in the crypto industry.
While the new system encourages more serious and efficient communication, it also commercializes interactions that were traditionally free.
Since CZ announced the feature, ReachMe.io has warned users that it has no official token and cautioned traders against purchasing any tokens claiming association with the platform.
Following the launch of the "Pay to Reach" feature, BNB's price rose 0.6% according to CoinGecko data, demonstrating the influence of industry leaders on cryptocurrency prices. However, BNB's price has since pulled back, currently at $625.51, down 0.4% from the same period yesterday, according to CoinGecko.
